Success in My Own Health Journey

Becoming Sick and Overweight

In 2015, I was overweight and my blood work was almost at a pre-diabetic level. I was often exhausted after lunch and afternoon naps became an almost-daily occurrence. I developed unexplained rashes, breathing difficulties, and I was sick almost every winter. I disliked the way I looked and felt.

I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.

One day, I was clothes shopping with my wife when I had the wake-up call that saved my life.

I remember the disgust I had felt with myself as I desperately tried and failed to make a overly-sized golf shirt fit me. I looked at myself in the mirror and I could see the rolls of fat showing through the tightly-fitting shirt. When the sales associate informed me that I had their largest available size in my hands, I felt an alarming sense of urgency that something had to change.

It was later in September of the same year that I had first heard of a counterargument challenging the preconception we have about fat. I did some research and soon learned about the benefits of a low-carbohydrate, high-fat ketogenic lifestyle. I carefully applied my research to myself by cutting out processed foods, seed oils, breads, and sugars. My weight started to come off and I’m happy to announce that I regained my metabolic health and ended up losing 42 lbs. in the process of this incredible journey.
